Thin Client with Windows CE

I have a HP Thin Client that has Windows CE not XPe on it. Is there anyway to turn this into a server for a scanner or should it just be turned into a door stop?

I haven't used CE in awhile (We used to have them at work). I don't think you can install apps. I seem to recall apps that were specifically designed for CE. I think your best bet is to pick up an XPe device.

You might be able to get Linux to run on it, but it will be a process and depend on the processor and ability to hack the boot process

If it boots from USB you could try micro XP in the USB stick. I have a thin client as a kitchen kiosk but I never tried to boot from USB yet. One thing about booting an OS from USB is that some USB drives are picky.

I say to try to boot from USB because installing XPe is a PITA and you generally have to do a PXE boot.
