Private OSX streaming?

I want to send a live private audio feed from a 996XT using a MacBook Pro running OSX. Receiving will be done on OSX or Windows. The MacBook has a standard 3.5mm line in jack.

Is this possible? This is for a business that has it's own servers and IT department if that would make a difference.

Have you tried darkice? Their page indicates that a Mac version is downloadable.

I stream in linux using darkice and it works well.

Set up an icecast server on the receiving equipment.

Air Foil for Mac is the best thing I have found. Streams to my iPhone, airport express, Apple TV all on my network, Added app can control outputs and volume remotely.
