VOX Recording Cutoff

I am using Audio Record Wizard to record a VHF channel off of a CDM 1250. I am using the filtered audio output off of the rear accessory connector. I'm having issues where the software will start recording, but the first syllable is cut off when someone is speaking or the first tone in a QCII page is cut off almost completely. This results in a very noticeable distortion when I combine the files with the Audio Record Wizard. Is there any settings that I can tweak both on the CDM 1250 or the Audio Record Wizard software to help minimize this? I have the silence threshold set to -40 dB and the feed audio set to 10% using the volume control in the Audio Record Wizard software.
