I was wondering about the low quality whip often seen atop discones. Wouldn't it make more sense to replace the low quality base loaded whip with a K40 or Wilson 1000 CB antenna? The weight and wind loading wouldn't be much worse and you'd get better lowband and CB reception.
Anyone try this?
