scanner step size

I got the digital PRO-197. On certain bands it got a step size of 25kHz. Could it be changed to 5kHz? And if it's 25kHz anyway, does it mean that it will not pick up live frequency between 156.275 and 156.300? e.g. 156.285. Thanks, Asad
