75 people are out of a job indefinitely after an overnight fire that destroyed an Atlanta, Texas, plant that makes welding gloves and fire-retardant clothing.

The fire happened at the Guard-Line plant in the middle of Atlanta.

The company has another plant in Atlanta, and 10 displaced workers will relocate there.

"We will bounce back," predicted Billy Gardner, a 16-year Guard-Line employee. "Everything will take a little time, but we will bounce back."

The company's owner was surveying the damage today but has not said what he plans to do next.

The fire was discovered shortly after midnight. Fire departments from the area, including Marshall and Texarkana, were called to assist Atlanta's fire department in putting out the blaze, which engulfed the metal-sided building.

The Longview Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire. Atlanta authorities also asked for assistance from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

No one was injured. Losses at the plant are expected to run into the millions of dollars.
