For those VCALL/VTAC talk groups, does anyone know if those are radios on the Frio tower so they're always available or are they just set aside for on-scene patching and require the bus to be there for them to go live? I've been curious if anyone actually monitors the VCALLs (other than DPS) in areas with regional trunked systems.

Those Task Force channels have been around along time, at least since 2011. Last I saw they were encrypted as well as Provoice.

Is 1567 A&M SA PD? Monitored it today and heard talk about cameras(which could be a campus) but also heard talk about rounding up High School kids off Losoya downtown. No building names on the campus at all.

Heard they have re-aligned some channels on the SAPD side. 1-O is now the Traffic channel. Any idea what the the old 2-A is now?

In February city council approved money so all the PD portable radios could be upgraded to XG-75's including Park and Airport PD's. so the moving around of some of the channels could have something to do with that. I also caught TG 1124 with a County dispatch ID and a unit showing encrypted. That was a first for me anyways seeing the ENC show up

I've seen the XG-75's on the hips of a lot of SO guys lately. Hopefully we'll see everyone transition to P25 soon.

The EDACS platform is getting pretty dated and while patching back to SAUA links up to the rest of the P25 networks in the area, it was a stop gap solution.

I suspect that the SAUA 700 MHz system was deployed using DHS and/or FEMA funding as a result of Katrina and Dailey Wells probably used it as a test bed for the VIDA platform. It probably is functioning as a transition test bed to an ultimate final P25 compliant system for the whole city and county.

Yeah BCSO has had them for a couple years now for all deputy's and most of the BCFA departments have them also. A lot of the other agencies using the system are still using the P7100 with a good amount using the XG or P7300 series. They will be EDACS at least through the end of the year, I saw they were accepting bids for a new system but then it was closed for bids last time I looked on the city website.

Leon Valley just paid Helotes over 130k for dispatch services for 2017 in January and signed a 5 year contract with the City of Helotes for dispatch services. I don't know when they plan on going back to their own but it would cost them way to much.

Is 1567 A&M SA PD? Monitored it today and heard talk about cameras(which could be a campus) but also heard talk about rounding up High School kids off Losoya downtown. No building names on the campus at all.

TG 1567 is Southside ISD PD. References to Losoya are to the district's Intermediate school. On the main campus is Pierce Primary, Losoya Intermediate, the High School, Gymnasium, Stadium, ACES Academy, Admin building, Ag building and Transportation yard. PD uses callsigns 101-114, seem relaxed and at times cryptic.

Thanks Scrotumola, I figured it was one of the many school districts on the south side. I found A&M on 1564 awhile back.

Lindsey, your suspicion is spot on. The SAUA overlay was funded by DHS under the UASI program to create an interconnected network along the IH 10 corridor (SAUA to LCRA to TXWARN into Louisiana's radio systems) from Houston (and places east) to support hurricane evacuations. Other than the SAUA to LCRA interop channels, I'm not really sure how much traction the whole thing has gotten.

Edit: Sorry for the terse original post. I was on my phone and got distracted.
