What about an interconnect with Fort Worth/Johnson County? Could Ellis be considering becoming part of that system? It sure is a lot of talk paths for such a little town?

That's my thinking as well. While I do see two sites in red Oak, so possibly they are joining with Midlothian, six frequencies for those two towns, which if combined, have less population than Mansfield, seems overbuilt. Mansfield only has 5 on it's FWRRS layer.

Will be part of the Fort Worth Regional Radio System. New tower has already been erected at FS3 on Tower Rd.

Quoted from the top article, the Midlothian Police Chief "Smith noted that the 700 MHZ band is a clear channel band designated by the Federal Communication Commission several years ago to be used strictly as a public safety frequency. Ellis and neighboring counties have already moved to the higher band to improve communications."

I don't see where Ellis County is using 700 MHz. What's he talking about?

No idea where he's coming up with the "Ellis and other counties.........." statement. Kaufman does have their new, but so far lightly used, 700MHz system, and there is some traffic on the Dallas 700MHzsystem. But the closest any Ellis County agency is to that band is the 800MHz band channels used conventionally by Waxahachie.

I don't believe there's anything to update as I don't believe
Midlothian has switched over to their new system as of
yet. I have not yet heard any usage on their new system.
Others may have, but I haven't.

Don't know what software you are using, but the 'Midlothian'
site frequencies are added to the RR database and can be
easily downloaded using either Sentinel or ARC536. No
talkgroups exist for Midlothian as yet, but I believe that's
due to the fact they are not on the new system yet.

I'm seeing a few talkgroups pop up occasionally. From the talk I've heard (other than test transmissions), it sounds like a few of the Midlothian units have the new radios and heard some traffic, more like 'talk' channels, not dispatch. I also don't believe they have officially switched as yet. I don't recall seeing a set date for the switch, though I could have overlooked it.

Which scanner are you using? Model/brand?

Download FWRRS and then delete all the sites except 1-10, which is the Midlothian/Red Oak layer.
Then set the system to ID-Search (if Uniden), or include a wildcard onone of the Whistler scanners. That way, you'll any talkgroups in use on the system for Midlothian & Red Oak.

Thanks for the info! Have you submitted these to be added
to the database? If not I will be happy to do so.
