I am making a separate thread for this system as most of the discussion was in the Corpus Christi thread, but this is a much larger widespread system.

https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=8665

From my travels this week, I have found that site 13 is on the tall tower just inside the Faith Ranch southwest of Carrizo Springs. It is using two of it's licensed frequencies and not 454 MHz at this time. No voice traffic on it yet.

I can also say with certainty that site 4 is in Atascosa County. It is able to be heard from Lytle to Cotulla on I-35 South, and it comes in strong on SH 16 through Jourdanton. There are two towers for S&P in the area, Pleasanton and Charlotte. I am leaning to it being Charlotte due to the signal from I-35. I will have to actually pass through Charlotte some time and confirm. It is hard to figure it out when it is using only 454 MHz part 22 channels for control with little to no voice traffic.

I also confirmed site 8 is Carrizo Springs as the signal was strong at HEB with no antenna on the PSR500.

Please add to this as you see fit! There are many licensed sites spread throughout south, southeast and central Texas for S&P Communications, which may show up as BNS Enterprises or Nathan Sherman in the FCC search. Any help is appreciated.

I am pretty much confined to the Cotulla area for the time being so I am not able to get much new information. However some others may be able to listen to the UHF band and pick up some valuable info for this system to continue to be built out. I think I have the actual bandplan to this thing figured out:

1: 451.01250 CH 000 - 453.01875 CH 321 Steps 6.25 kHz
2: 460.65625 CH 322 - 464.41875 CH 924 Steps 6.25 kHz
3: 454.00000 CH 925 - 454.68750 CH 980 Steps 12.5 kHz

4: 464.42500 CH 981 - 464.98750 CH 1026 Steps 12.5 kHz OR
4: 464.42500 CH 981 - 464.99375 CH 1072 Steps 6.25 kHz

I am very positive on 1, 2 and 3, and we know CH 981 in section 4 is correct from a listener on another thread in Corpus Christi as a control channel in George West, Site 3. I am not certain of whether section 4 steps up at 12.5 or 6.25, although the FCC hasn't licensed very much above 464.6 into the 6.25 splits yet. We will have to see a channel number reported in the 1000's to be sure.

All that said, there are some missing sites that need to be found and filled in. Currently, DSD reports the following active control channels:

15: 451.10625 (Site 1 San Antonio active CC)
216: 452.36250 (Site 7 Cotulla active CC)
294: 452.85000 (Confirmed voice channel at site 8, also licensed in Georgetown and Pleasanton)
319: 453.00625 (Site 5 Pearsall active CC)
548: 462.06875 (Licensed only at site 13, not used as CC from monitoring recently)
551: 462.08750 (Licensed at Point Comfort, Corpus Christi)
573: 462.22500 (Licensed at Rockport)
927: 454.02500 Not heard on air yet
928: 454.03750 (Site 8 Carrizo Springs idle CC/VC, may be on air elsewhere as well)
933: 454.10000 (Site 7 Cotulla idle CC/VC, may be on air elsewhere as well)
949: 454.30000 (Site 8 Carrizo Springs active CC)
981: 464.42500 (Site 3 George West)
999: 464.53750 (nothing licensed if 6.25 kHz) or 464.6500 (licensed at Karnes City if 12.5 kHz)

Another weird note is that I can hear site 4 and decode it on CH 929 (454.050) from my hotel in Cotulla, but DSD does not report site 7 CH 216 (452.3625) as a neighboring channel although the DSD Events window does show site 7 as one of the visible NL's. Same thing goes for site 7, not reporting CH 929 site 4 as an active CC even though it shows as a NL.

I don't think the issue is with DSD, as it only reports what it decodes. I think the system is not reporting things correctly as they are on the air. When I found site 13 on the Faith Ranch, it was using two frequencies as CC's that were not showing up as neighbors to any other site, but was showing all the normal visible NLs (1,2,3,4,5,7,8,9).

Bottom line, we just need to monitor the I-37 and SH 35 corridors a little closer to find where the rest of this system is hiding out at.

I drove a little ways toward Freer after work today and was able to pick up site 10 there from about 35 miles away with few errors. Freer site 10 reports:

028 - 451.18750 (licensed for NXDN at Charlotte and Carrizo Springs. Have not seen in use in Carrizo Springs yet with 3 other channels identified.)
160 - 452.01250 (Site 10 Freer active CC today)
477 - 461.62500 (Site 9 Corpus Christi confirmed CC)
548 - 462.06875 (again, only licensed at site 13 Faith Ranch but not heard yet)
999 - ??? depending on band plan.

Freer also reports 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,9 as neighbors with a RAN of 10 on DSD+, but Freer site 10 has not shown up as a neighbor yet to any of the sites west or north of it. More oddities.....

I reported these TGs and derived it by Alias and Subject Matter. Log from DSD + below. I added "Concrete" so easier to ID on live display. Since I'm only able to decode one Freq at a time I miss most of the returned calls but listening to recordings I caught for example "298 at washout", "298 at yard", references to yards left in truck, and pouring curbs.

I believe that this is Alamo Concrete Products as they have locations in Alice, Beeville, Corpus and several other towns in S Texas. They are the only ones that have yards in both Beeville and Alice.

Other TGs logged are below. I've started logging each transmission as a separate .wav instead of one big one in DSD+ so I can better correlate TG to transmission. I know their are some other school buses active, just trying to figure out from where.

Hi Bob, so much for google streetview detective research to glean the Alamo Concrete Truck #'s ... ?
Hey good DSD+ logs and I think your well on your way to being the most valuable Keystone cop here !

Alamo Concrete Products Office only - (361) 289-6400
226 S Enterprize Pkwy # 100 - Corpus Christi, TX 78405
Google Street View Date - May 2016
Results: Office Park Bldg only no trucks - Do see a vertical Bant mounted close to flag poles on wall.

Alamo Concrete Products (ReadyMix) - (361) 289-9200
6129 Agnes St · Corpus Christi, TX 78406 (White Trucks w/ White Mixer Drums and Red/Blue logo)
Google Street View Date - Mar 2011 (would not be suprised if 7 year old trucks are long replaced ?)
Results: Yuge plant but pics way to far away from street to read any of the roughly 10 truck #'s or so.

Alamo Concrete Products (Ready mix) - (361) 664-8643
1124 Product Ave, Alice, TX 78332 (White Trucks w/ White Mixer Drums and Red/Blue logo)
Google Street View Date - April 2011 (gates locked at photo time place looks dead - where the trucks?
Results: View to far away to see 1 truck# in shop and from another angle 1 way out in the back of yard.

Alamo Concrete Products (ReadyMix) - (361) 358-7288
200 W Reagan Rd, Beeville, TX 78102 (older White MAC Trucks w/ White Mixer Drums and Blue logo)
Google Street View Date - May 2011 (See truck #'s on left front bumper and lower cab doors in photo)
Results: Google Camera Car was on other side of street to get a clear view of the 3 trucks by fence.
Note lower cab door is 3 digit # and unclear might be either 119 or 319 but front bumber looks 4 digit.
Need a drive by as these 7 year old trucks in photo may have been replaced with newer trucks / #'s ?
Bob of all 3 yards this one is closest to the road and thus offers a better chance at seeing truck #'s.
It will probably take a jobsite drive by or some driver give away comm ie "Good Morning Alamo Drivers"

ralexander5,

Good notes. Would you mind checking some licensed freqs for BNS Enterprises in the area to see if we can find some of the missing sites?

Robstown (WPRU864)

451.00625
451.01250
451.21250
451.26875
451.75000
462.53750
462.73750

Rockport (WPQE815) - License is for analog voice but 462.225 has shown up on DSD as a neighboring CC so it is worth checking

452.21250
452.46250
462.22500
464.76250

Gregory (WQXN595)

463.84375
463.85625
463.95625
464.21875
464.98125

Beeville (WPRF359) - Licensed for analog only but worth checking

451.42500
451.77500
451.96250
452.56250
452.88750

Point Comfort (WQWW249) - Only license of many here that is for NXDN)
451.48750
452.18750
452.71250

Kingsville (WPRK520) - Analog license worth checking
452.35000
452.80000
463.21250
464.93750

There are several more licenses in Point Comfort for analog voice but we can try those first.

I know some of the sites may be a little too far away to here without driving but that is everything in the area . I am planning on a beach day soon with the kiddos so I may get to do a little listening while I am there.

TG 3901 had a lot of activity today, most of the voice transmissions were school bus related. Monitoring the voice frequencies now to see if I can get an alias. Talk about Jr High and sports and buses but no identifying locations or anything like that.

TG 1904 was active in Cotulla today also, I know that one is a concrete company in Beeville from the above list, but it was catching some travel related traffic briefly.

Confirmed site 4 as Charlotte. The signal is full strength, no antenna 10 Miles south of Charlotte on the Hindes tower off SH 97. It is using CH 929 454.0500 and CH 949 454.3000. Now what is odd is that site 11 popped up as CH 88 451.5625. Turns out this a frequency licensed to the Charlotte/Hindes site where site 4 is broadcasting from, however site 11 is actually co-located on the Pleasanton tower with 68-9 CH 864 452.8500. Of further note site 11 only broadcasts 4 neighboring CC’s, 62 (Freer), 294 (452.850), 477 (Corpus), 548 (462.06875) and 999 (?)

So now we know Atascosa County is covered by two towers for system 303 and one for system 68 (9)

With exception of 452.5625 which is an LTR channel 9 probably out of Beeville I have not seen activity on any of the frequencies listed. I'm still monitoring.

I was monitoring site 303-2 last night (451.075) and when it switched CC it showed up on 454.025 (927) and I found voice channel on 454.650 (979). These don't agree with data base and do not show in FCC database either. Is anyone seeing activity on 464.0875 or 464.4?

They have several licenses for FCC Part 22 blocks, which allows them to use 454.XXXX frequencies in a general geographical area. But as to the channel numbers, that does jive with what I have seen so far for the band plan. I’ll attach my excel file to the wiki today that has every channel mapped out from 1-981 for quick reference without having to do the math. So is 303-2 coming from Robstown? Is it 451.075 or 451.750? I believe the 464.0875 and 464.4000 were put in as someone recorded them from DSD neighbor activity without being able to hear the frequencies to cross map. We didn’t know about the 454 frequencies running from CH 925-980 until more recently as we made an effort to map the system. I’ll update the database with your findings.

I drove into Corpus and 303-2 was coming in strong near Robstown and weak in Corpus. 451.750 is correct.

I also drove by the Alamo Concrete yard in Beeville which had trucks 389, 390, 4505 and 4509 parked. This should confirm TG 1901, 1902 and 1904. I have seen 1902 with a unit alias of "Kingsville". Seems a bit far away to hit Robstown or George West sites, Alamo does have a plant in Kingsville.

Another good job Bob, your drive by the Alamo Concrete yard in Beeville basically ID'd 4 TG's !
I had posted the key is in the truck #'s you matched up verbally, by TG aliases and by visually !
I had submitted updates that perhaps TG 1902 AC-Kingsville reaches CC-S#9 or RT-S#2 towers ?
Thanks for your road trip to Alamo Concrete - Beeville Plant and into Corpus to nail down RT-S#2.
Now lQQking at these 4 TG's you ID'd maybe I can transfer some resources to ID our SA-S#1 TG's.

1904 D Alamo Concrete Alamo Concrete Delivery Trucks - Beeville Plant Business
1903 D Alamo Concrete Alamo Concrete Delivery Trucks - Alice Plant Business
1902 D Alamo Concrete Alamo Concrete Delivery Trucks - Kingsville Plant Business
1901 D Alamo Concrete Alamo Concrete Delivery - Corpus Christi Plant Business

However my equip has been tied up lately on other systems and now this week with Fiesta Events ;)
I have noticed an increase in traffic here on both S&P Communications NEXEDGE systems 303 & 68 !

Makes me wonder if there is any activity on the 4 Kingsville frequencies. They are licensed as analog only but I am not sure how well Sites 2 and 9 cover that area. I guess it is all pretty flat so it should be fine for mobiles even without a Nexedge site in KV.
One more thing to confirm: was the VC 464.6500 that you head for site 2 channel 977 (one I have seen on neighbors) or 979? It lines up with 977 on my band plan also so I wanted to double check.

I'll add in another license for Point Comfort, WQKX472: licensed for NXDN:

461.07500
462.08750
464.92500

I add this because I have seen CH 551 which maps to 462.0875 come up as a neighbor several times. That is the only site that BNS Enterprises, Inc has licensed on that frequency. That one is out of range for most of us but when we make our beach trip in a few weekends, I'll see if I can sneak close enough to check it out.

Here is an interesting find that may or may not help us out. Apparently it is old news, and it may have been covered in another topic, but alas:

https://www.rrmediagroup.com/News/NewsDetails/NewsID/11438

A&B Communications was bought a few years ago by BNS Enterprises, Inc. The link below shows digital airtime coverage with tower sites:

A&B Communications: Two-Way Radio | Mobile Radio | Signal Tower System

It would be interesting to know if users can roam from System 303 to System 68 since both systems are represented in the one map. I know they have different bandplans but maybe the info for both is programmed into them?

Bob,

CH 573 (462.2250) is showing up as a neighbor again tonight. That is licensed to Rockport.

Rockport (WPQE815)
452.21250
452.46250
462.22500
464.76250

If you can pick it up from Mathis see if anything is out there. If not, I'll add that one to the list of stops coming up. Thinking it may be our missing site 6, or it could be a ghost if their tower was hit by Harvey and not back up yet. The coverage map on the above link shows a perfect circle around Rockport extending out in to the gulf so they at least market a tower there.

With all the skip this morning i'm picking up a NXDN signal on 462.225. It's too weak to decode.

It looks like I need to set up a laptop and go for a drive.
