Hello everyone! I’m looking for some help from the scanner community.

I’m having an issue with my Uniden SDS200 receiving the Charlotte-Mecklenburg P25 system. I’m located in the York County area, and my SDS150 is receiving Charlotte-Mecklenburg very well from the same location, with a good signal and no obvious data problems.

However, when I use the SDS200 in the same area with what should be comparable programming, it struggles to receive the system.

Since the SDS150 is working properly, I’m wondering if the problem with the SDS200 could be related to:

🔹 P25 filter settings
🔹 Site selection / site settings
🔹 Control-channel reception
🔹 Modulation or digital settings
🔹 Avoid settings
🔹 Firmware version
🔹 Sentinel/database programming
🔹 Antenna or coax connection
🔹 Or possibly an issue with the SDS200 itself

I’d especially appreciate advice from anyone familiar with Charlotte-Mecklenburg’s P25 system and SDS200 programming.

Has anyone experienced an SDS200 that receives poorly while an SDS150 in the same location receives the system normally? What settings or troubleshooting steps did you use to correct it?

If there are specific SDS200 P25 filter, site, or control-channel settings I should check for Charlotte-Mecklenburg, please let me know.

Thanks in advance for any help! 📡

Is this the system in question? Not seeing one entitled "Charlotte-Mecklenburg"
Charlotte UASI
Project 25 Phase II

🔹 P25 filter settings
Have you experimented with the different settings? No improvement with any?

🔹 Control-channel reception
My crystal ball's broken, you should be able to answer this yourself

🔹 Site selection / site settings
Scan only one site at a time to avoid the scanner spending unnecessary time jumping between sites you may or may not be in range of

🔹 Firmware version
🔹 Sentinel/database programming
Only you can answer this. Are you running the latest firmware? 1.26.01 Main Did you use the same Sentinel profile to program the SDS150 which you claim receives the system with good signal?

🔹 Antenna or coax connection
🔹 Or possibly an issue with the SDS200 itself
Have you experimented with different antennas, coax, etc? Is the system in question the only system you're having trouble receiving? What about your local NOAA weather radio station, how well does it come in? This should clue you in if the antenna(s), coax or the unit itself is faulty

If there are specific SDS200 P25 filter, site, or control-channel settings I should check for Charlotte-Mecklenburg, please let me know.
Filter settings are experimental, there's no "one filter fits all" for everyone. Try them all out, find out which one works best for you

Also just a heads up you posted this in the South Carolina forum. I've asked the mods to move this to North Carolina
