Still a work in progress but throwing it out there for comments
Thank you didn't know it was going to be so rough i think im going to loom the wires wonder of just squaring it up a bit might make it look betterNot bad for a first timer, take a little more time and clean it up alittle and it could still be a usable and cleaner install. If you have access to a Dremel tool you could make your radio opening alot more custom fit with or without the trim. The wires do create a safety issue and loom would be great. Antenna's would be far better with the roof install as mentioned above. Good Luck and Live and Learn. But hey if it works for you and your happy what the hey...
just wondering what type of front seat you have, bench or bucket and if you have a console. i have a 1989 S-10 blazer with bucket seats and the console was trashed so i removed it and made my own console where i mounted a motorola radio, switch panel, siren control panel and a scanner
You may want to clean up the cuts and then purchase some black edging to cover the edge. Here's just one source Grommet Ring and Flexible Grommet Protectors.
Pick up some split wire loom and cable ties to run all the wires under the dash and get them out of the way. Again, here just one source but you can also find it at Home Depot, etc.
As for the though the glass antenna, I'd also recommend to go with a thought the roof, aka, NMO style mount. You'll be much happier with the radio
i have bucket seats the concole is the factory one were the radio and siren are was the orignal tape deck i had to modfy so i can hit the buttons and see the display i am looking at taking that out and replacing it with one from galls.com or somewere else because i am going to get an ICOM ham to go with my dept radio
Did you use Isopropyl alcohol to clean the window glass and on-glass antenna's base', otherwise they may not adhere and fall off.
You may have had a liabilty case with your wiring crossing the accelerator pedal, but your vehicle is not a Toyota. Move the wiring away from the pedal. Protect the firewall wiring using rubber grommets and seal it with silicon.
