I drilled the holes finally, I didn't want to, but I did.:)

The antennas are:
-Comtelco 800Mhz 3Db gain(front)
-Comet SBB-2NMO(rear)
-Comet B10-NMO (trunk L bracket on hood) this antenna is no longer in use but keeps the NMO safe from the weather until I purhase a cap for it.

Radios:
-Yaesu FT-7100R----- This radio had some really poor reviews but has still worked great for me after several years and keeps on going, knock on wood. Motorola external speaker is under the seat, I forgot to take pics of that, it's real nice and loud!
-Undiden 396T------- To monitor the Denver PS Sytstem w/ESK and the Colorado DTRS.
-Kenwood TK-370G-----For Ham, commercial repeaters and GMRS.

The 7100 is more or less temp mounted in between the seat until I can come across the separation kit, which may be never and I end up purchasing a 7800 or 8800.

Let me know what you all think

Nice job on drilling the holes! There's no better way to mount antennas, as far as I'm concerned.

I'm surprised you haven't tossed the 7100 out the window yet. The one I had was absolutely terrible for intermod and other garbage getting in. Biggest mistake Yaesu did was marketing that POS. But I digress...

You can rig up your own separation cable using 6-conductor modular cable and a couple of modular ends.

Yea, the 7100 is pretty bad for intermod here in Denver. That's why I use CTCSS on almost everything. I guess I'm waiting til' the damn thing stops working before I get something new. However it shows no signs of going dead soon. I have the cable for separating the control head, I just don't have the back mounting piece and don't really know where to put it anyway, other than maybe a "seatbolt type arm" like the Lido mounts.

That's about how you do it in a jeep. They sure didn't think about mounting radios when they designed the interior.

Spacing

OK I am officially jealous. I don't want to drill any holes in my Corolla since I will be trading it in for a new car for the missus. Once I do that I will be getting her Santa Fe and will go ahead and do it. With the elevated roof most people will never even see the holes if they are covered nicely at such a time I go to trade it in (too far in the future top worry about anyway).

What I was wondering is what criteria did you use to choose the spacing for the two on top?
Do you transmit on any of the radios or just monitor?
Is there any reason you put the 800mhz at the front?
I will be looking to have a similar setup with my 996 and a VHF/UFH when I get my HAM ticket later this year and get the Sanat Fe set up.

The general rule is the antennas should be spaced a minimum of 1/4 wavelength apart based on the lowest frequency you'll use. If, say, you have a 70cm whip and a 2m whip they should be spaced approximately 19" apart (i.e. 1/4 wavelength on 2m).

As far as order of arrangement that's entirely up to you and I think done more for aesthetic reasons than anything else.

Thank you sir for answering, I just got around to checking up on comments. It doesn't look like it in the pictures, but the two antennas are spaced about 23 inches apart. It's just the angle and way I took the pics. I cut the holes at that length because there are metal support beams within the headliner and I wasn't about to drill through those. The arrangement, I thought just looked better with the shorter antenna in the front. I really am enjoying having a darker Jeep and black antennas, you almost can't see them at all unless you are right there.

Thanks everyone for the positive comments

Yes, I do transmit on the Yaesu FT-7100 on 2M and 440. We have tons of repeaters on these bands in Colorado. Most get 100 miles of coverage in all directions because they are all mountain top. I am a ham, GMRS and commercial user so lots to choose from. If I had more room, I would install a Kenwood commercial radio that is "type accepted" for all the repeaters I use, but it's just easier to carry a HT for this purpose. Get that ticket, it is easy these days and you will enjoy it.
