'07 Tahoe LTZ Mobile Setup

Here is the final product of my mobile setup. The vehicle is an 07 Tahoe LTZ. The radios are an Icom ID-800H, a Motorola Spectra (900MHz) and an RH-96 connected to a BCT15X. The radios are all under the back bench. (Sorry, don't have a pic of that.) I also included a photo of the wiring harness, which is #8 Wire run to the battery.

There is one photo from "Before"... The rest are "After" photos... And yes, that's Jay Urish standing in my drivers side door. He did the drilling up top.

nice setup, in the before image, is that a Yaesu FTM-350R? How do you like it? I'm in the market for a 2nd transceiver, although this one is a bit pricey for what I believe I neeed. And what did you do with it as it obviously didn't make it in the "after"?

You are correct, that is an FTM-350R. It's currently in my shack here at home as my packet rig. Probably horribly underutilized in it's current capacity but it needs to take a quick trip back to Yaesu. (Firmware issues)

I love the thing though. I've been debating whether at some point it might end up back in my Tahoe, but for right now, I'm very content to have it running here. Some of the cooler things that I like about the rig:

1) It's by default, a seperated head/base.
2) It uses a Cat 5 cable to handle the seperation.
3) The mic jack is in the head.
4) The stereo speakers are in the head.

1 set of wires to power. 1 cable to the antenna. 1 cable from the rig to the control head. It's that easy. No extra speakers required. No 2 cable remoting.

The GPS features and bluetooth (both options) are pretty cool too. It also has a microphone built into the control head, so if you forget your microphone (I have no idea how that could happen), there is actually a PTT button on the front of it. Push... Talk...

That is my one issue with my FT-7900R, having to run a speaker somewhere. Other than that, it wires up just like this radio... minus the fact that you use CAT5 to run the remote. Very nice. Thanks for the info.
