I was reading the forum that JoeBearcat posted about the firmware update for the 996P2, however I'm a little confused about the warning and I wanted to double check with y'all before I did anything to my unit. I was wondering if someone can help explain his warning and recommendations. My unit's SN starts with 378Z

Your scanner is not affected, and you would gain absolutely nothing by upgrading the firmware.

You're certainly free to upgrade if you want to be at the latest revision, but it's not necessary for 378Z models, and contains no fixes or features.

What can I clarify for you?

Despite what was said, you MAY gain improvements depending on your current firmware version. ONLY if you currently have V1.08.01 would you not realize any benefits.

The new version can be used in ANY version of the BCD996P2 with no ill effects.
