• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Those guys are Beta testers. That's what most the Unication threads have been about recently. 1.3 & 1.4. Still testing

I'm testing the freescan beta which is 1.4.something. I never knew there was a regular (NON freescan) beta for 1.3.
There is a newer 1.4 freescan beta coming soon.

There is a non free-scan beta for 1.3 based on other posts a few weeks ago. Apparently it will have the hold on talk group and some other features. When it is released is anyone's guess, but my understanding is that when it does get released it will not be a beta but instead a regular wide release - hence some of the testing in the wild. The 1.4 beta will be a second beta when it is released. To be honest I am really happy with the radio as it exists today and I have come to the conclusion that the day I stop waiting for the release is the day it will likely be released.

It sure isn't on the Unication USA download page. Stealth firmware!
I am also testing the non free scan 1.3 beta, my biggest requirement for my dept was the stacked tone issue, where only the first two tone pair would activate the pager, none of the work around worked for us, this f/w is being tried in a few of the officers pagers and is working great so far

What is the stacked tone issue out of curiosity? Does it mean the pager needs to hear tone-set 1 followed by tone-set 2 before activating (i.e., two pairs of two tone frequencies)?

Why get rid of "free scan"? That's what's good about 1.4

This is speculation, but Unication said if you go to 1.4 you cannot go back. 1.4 is a radically different architecture it seems. I think it will probably span several betas before it hits the market in a mission critical environment. 1.3, however, apparently addresses the stacked tone issue (which I don't fully understand what that issue is), and apparently also has 'hold on talkgroup' which is a huge feature people want. I guess they'll try and roll that out as part of 1.3 also. I am not sure if the 'hold on talkgroup' was originally going to be part of 1.3 but based on everyone asking for it, maybe that got included later in the game and that is why there is a delay releasing 1.3. This is why I don't mind the delay waiting for 1.3 as this alone is a huge add. Again just speculation on my part.

We are also testing the 1.3 for stacked tones issues and we are very pleased with how it is working on the Lancaster County PA P25 Trunking system.

Stacked tones are when multiple 2 tone pairs are sent from dispatch one after the other, and (the setups are almost endless) your pager is supposed to alert for more than one, with the current f/w the pager will only alert to the first two tone it receives that it is supposed to alert for after that it just plays the tones as a scanner would. Our dispatch is set up so that one push of our general tones the same 2 pair goes out twice back to back but will only alert once, the 1.3 beta seems to have fixed that so far

Can anyone advise which of the new features in beta 1.4 will be included in 1.3 besides TG hold?

Are your stacked tones patched with the p25 system? My tones are patched and arent truely p25 2 tones. I had to convert back to fw 1.1 for my pager to have tones over p25 and it only activated one 2 tone. Does the new fw fix the problem with patched tones?
