Hi
Up at my QTH which is in a rural mountain area, I get a signal on 1.884 Mhz. It is not an amateur station in the 160M band. I can't detet any modulation but it is pretty prevalent around the yard. I do nto have a dog fence, I turned off anything with an inverter in it. It does not seem to be focused on the house in any event.

Any ideas what this could be? It is on all the time. DOes the frequency ring a bell for some kind of device?

Thanks in advance, Bill N4BFD.

Try running your radio of a battery then kill the power to the house to see if its still there. If it is then you can find it by various methods but the key thing here is you will have some control over it. If the signal is still there with your house power off then you have no real control over it and may have to get a loop antenna and DF it.

Only thing I can add is take a battery operated portable and walk around your yard - see if the noise increases anywhere

What sort of signal is it? Noise, carrier, AM or something else like RTTY or STANAG? Is it always there 24/7?

I did shut off the entire house. I am now beginning to think it is an issue with my RFExplorer. I do get a signal with certain SDR software but it really seems to be something related to the instrument I am using.
