Hey guys, I have a quick question for you. I’m not sure if what I’m asking is possible, but I’m just trying to consolidate some equipment and free up some space.

I have a connect systems 800d DMR mobile and an ICOM 5100. Both mics use the RJ-45 type input. I almost exclusively use the mic for the PTT button. I control the radios from the controls on the radios themselves. If I’m only using one radio at a time, would an RJ-45 splitter enable me to utilize one mic for both radios? If not, does anyone have a suggestion? I’ve got a nice setup in my GMC, but it would be better if I could lose one of the mics.

Thanks in advance for your help!

No, you can’t use a splitter. IF both mics use the same pinout and type, you could use an A/B style switch box. But you would have to confirm that both radios can use one of microphone types (e.g. both are compatible with each other). Unlike ethernet in an RJ-45 plug, the wiring of these mics is up to each manufacturer.

It may not work because those radios probably require different types of mic elements. I know I can't use the same mic on my Yaesu radios that I use on my iCom.
