2 quick questions. Jay you might be able to answer them right away.

1. what does code 50, not card 50 but code 50 mean when an ems or fire says. "Im 50" I see that it is what is your status. But does that mean we are ok when a pump or medic responds i'm 50 or am I hearing 15?

2. i'm in the process of drilling codes and cards into my head using flash cards, I want to memorize them so I can just listen and not look at my paper on my wall. Does the Calgary police use the same 10 codes as RCMP so that when I do memorize them I don't have to do it twice.

If you go to the "Calgary" section of the DB (not the trunk system but the "Calgary" 'agency') you will see a tab that says "Codes & Maps". Click on it to see the 10-codes lists.

"Code 15" is a police code meaning a unit is okay. Officially, it means something else (like Backup unit to file supplemental report), but the situation in which it's used occurs so often that it has been taken to mean "okay". EMS wanted a code for their crews to give if something is okay, so they adopted/stole it from CPS.

The CPS list is out of date; nothing major has changed but it could use some sprucing up. I will look at it when I'm off work later this week.
