One of the first things I saw was a link on the right: "DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff: Keep Your 10-Codes" with a little camera symbol next to it. The link takes you to this: DHS Secretary: Keep Your 10-Codes

The Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff has announced today that it is no longer necessary for first responders to discontinue using the 10-Code system of verbal communication in order to come into compliance with the National Incident Management System (NIMS).

Obviously, the agencies who actually use them feel differently. And speaking for myself, as a former PD dispatcher, I agree.

Been there, done that, liked the result!

i'm just waiting for president Bush to get out of office cause i garuntee this whol homeland security crap will go to hell in a handbasket quick. and i have used 10 codes brunswick county 911 was dispatching everything 10 coded but it wasnt worth the headache so i stand by my position that 10 codes should be banished to hell along with Mike brown
