I finally got my scanner talking however I tried to get PD stations near me but I'm still hearing from departments further away. I have a 1040 and used WIN500. Looking to get help with Texas Galveston County PD (ONLY Texas City, LaMarque, and Dickinson)

According to the database, you might be able to hear Dickinson on the simulcast freq of 453.25, but all three of those agencies are on the
Texas Wide Area Radio Network (TxWARN) which is Project 25 Phase II and you can not get it on the WS1040

The vast majority talkgroups on the TxWarn system are presently operating as Phase 1 which your scanner will receive. Look in the Mode column of the Galveston County talkgroups. Anyone with a D you will be able to receive. Anyone with a DE, T, or TE, you will not be able to receive.

At this time, you could receive the Dickinson talkgroups on your WS1040. While the TxWARN system is capable of P25 Phase II, Dickinson is still using Phase I, which your 1040 can handle. Texas City, for now, is also Phase I. I'd suggest the Texas City site and/or The Galveston County Simulcast for those. Lamarque has some Phase I talkgroups (noted by the D in the Mode column), but others are Phase II (the T in the mode column as tvengr noted), with a couple of Lamarque PDs TGIDs are encrypted.

Based on past comments I've seen either down in the Texas Forum, or over in the HoustonScan group, in the couple of years or so all agencies in the Houston area are suppposed to convert to Phase II talkgroups. Once that happens to any agencies that interest you, then your WS1040 will no longer work.
