I just got my 1040 this morning and have a few questions on it.
How do you set it up to detect any talkgroups that you don't already have saved in it while it is scanning. I read something about a wildcard ID but cant figure out how to save it.

Also, I am trying to listen to the Air force station that is down the road from me. (Cape Canaveral AFS) I am able to pick up the control frequency with no problem and I saved it but when it scans it picks up talkgroups but there is no sound.

Thanks in advance and I'm sure ill have more as I play around with it

I assume you are programming by hand.

Try this -

Press Pgm
Press F1 - New
Press F1 - TGRP
Down Arrow and right arrow to select Scanlist you want Wildcard in
Down Arrow and right arrow to pick System you want Wilcard associated with
Down arrow and if it says Wildcard then press F1 - Save

Thanks. I am programming it using the arc 500 software. I guess what confused me was that when I would program my old radio shack pro-96 it would give a option to leave the group open for unsaved talkgroups. I couldn't find anything like that in the software.

Wildcard

Try "Global settings" at the bottom left column of ARC500 and when the new window opens, select "Software".
