I recently picked up a 1095 and a 1098. I have numerous Pro-18/Pro669 scanners and they all work great.
But these two are basically deaf. Miss most transmissions while other Whistler/Uniden scanners are chattering away.
Tried a new install of EZ Scan with totally new imported freqs. Tried numerous antennas - RS 800, mag mounts, Diamond.
No success, they just don't seem to receive much'
No, the ATT is not on. Priority is not on.
Antenna connectors should be OK, I can OCCASIONALLY pick up distant stations so yes they see an antenna.
There is no NOAA station within range, so can not do that test.
Anyone have any other ideas?

NOTE: Even strong stations, like NYPD SOD come in with full bars, but often it is being recd on other scanners and never stops on these two. Perplexing

What systems is it "DEAF" on? I assume you updated the cpu and dsp firmwares? You have cloned the settings from a working whistler scanner? if not create a archive of one in ezscan , then restore the archive on the 1095 and 1098.

if analog systems are the problem, remove all squelch codes ,if digital make sure the DMODE is set to digital and not AUTO, play with DSP, ADC and DAC, If trunking play with thresholds.

I read through all the threads last night. Seems these have a problem with the squelch. I did try going back to straight squelch mode, no joy. Sending them back.

Do they pick up NOAA?

SEND em back. They'll only make you angry. Wait for Whistler's new radios to surface and decide between the SDS100, new Whistlers or Unication's superior G4/G5 Pagers. The rest will only disappoint you and drive you mad mobile wise.

Yup.
I set up my 325P2 in the car just as a test. Works like a top.

I use my WS-1095 mobile-mounted in my car, and it works (almost) as well as my Uniden 536HP. When I am going on a trip out of town, I swap the 536HP back into the car (simply because it can do GPS programming), but for around-town and local use, the WS-1095 works fine for my needs.

I sent back the 1095. It was awful.
Playing with the 1098. Suddenly it is keeping track with the 325P2,
No idea what's up with all this.

I have had both for a couple of years now, using them as base radios. Never had any issues with them that weren't related to the SD cards, both cards eventually died and had to be replaced, one as recently as just the other day. Other than that they work fine but as with anything it's YMMV with the vast assortment of different systems in operation around these days.

Try testing by entering manually in AM mode 2.5 Mhz, 5, 10 15 and 20 Mhz, depending on location you should be able to tune one Time Signal station, you will need a long wire antenna attached with a Banana clip to the BNC connector.
Those are outside tuning range of the scanner.

Sometimes it can be something as simple as a poor connection between the BNC connector and your antenna. A little steel wool applied to the BNC connector wouldn't hurt.
