10M beam

I am planning on building a 10M beam. My first thought was to build a 2 element beam from plans by AA1DO that I found on the internet. His was made to be portable. I am planning on a permanent set up. I am now debating whether to build it as a horizontal beam, or like the Maco Y-Quad beam. I just got all the tubing needed to build the 2 element antenna. If I go with the Y-quad I will need to get the materials to build the reflector and use the tubing I have to make both directors. I know I have the option of getting an antenna switch that will allow me to use vertical or horizontal, or both at the same time. Has anyone used any setup like this and how did it perform?
