Hey ridge.

This is actually the Australia Bureau of Meteorology maritime weather broadcasts. The station you heard was VMC (Charleville) for eastern Australia. There is another called VMW (Wiluna) for western Australia.

VMC and VMW voice broadcast schedules provide for bulletins of warnings broadcast on the hour in WST and EST (on the half hour CST). Weather forecasts for Coastal Waters and High Seas followed by coastal observations are broadcast using a program that is repeated every four hours. The program contains up-to-date forecasts, warnings and coastal observations.

Received VMC on 8176 at 1250z on 11/27. Just purchased the MFJ 1025 Noise Cancller/Enhancer and strung up a second antenna and boy does it make a difference. My worst offending noise is between 6500khz and 8500khz. Previously, I would have never been able to log this.
