To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi All,

Just picked up a HT1250 LS+, programming it with 16 conventional channels in 1 zone. I've got my channels and zone set up, but the top knob (which is set in the CPS to change the channel (continuous) not zone) doesn't do anything. The up/down buttons on the front change the channel. I tried changing the knob control in the CPS to change the zone, and still no luck. I hear/feel the manual click as the rotary knob turns, is it possible there is a mechanical default or am I programming it wrong? Or can I not change the channel in the zone on the LS + by the knob on the top?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Make sure you change the rotary control to channel, in both Conventional, and LS Trunking Button fields.
Also, in 'Personality Assignment to Zone' you should have just one zone, and the 16 channels within that zone. If you have this correct, it should work. If it does not, possible bad selector.

I tried it that way - made sure that all my settings were correct. The knob isn't working to change the channel. I can change the channel by using the up/down buttons on the front of the radio. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Dave

Also make sure if the radio has only conventional channels you have the passport option board turned off on each personality (uncheck the option board feature box) or it will mess with the radio also.

HT1250LS Knob Prob(lem)

I believe that you will find that if you have conventional channels only programmed into a 1250 LS radio, the Rotary Knob will not change the channels no matter how the CPS is set. You will need to use the arrow keys.

This drove me nuts with one of my customer's radios for about a week. The Help Screens are pretty vague about this.

This isn't true... I have a two 220mhz ham HT1250LS+ radios that each have just 18 conventional channels.

First.. delete all the Zones. Then set up your conventional channels and assign them to the new zones accordingly. If you have more than 1 zone, you will have to set up either a menu option to change zones, or assign a button to directly enter that menu.

Under the Controls and Menus tab, go to both "Conventional Buttons" and "LS Trunking Buttons" and set the rotary knob to "Channel Selection (Continous)".

If the radio also has a Passport LTR option board, under each conventional personality you will need to make sure that under the "Advanced" tab, the "Option Board Feature" checkbox is not checked. If you see a symbol that looks kinda like an egg on the display, the option board is turned on somewhere.

Then you can remove all the LS Trunking systems except 1, and remove all the LS Trunking talkgroups from the zones.

I think years ago when I programmed the first LS+, I noticed that I could not even select the channel change option, it would only let you use the zone change. So I set up 16 Zones, and made only 1 channel within each zone. Named the channel and zone the same. Kind of hoaky, but it worked. I wonder if you are seeing something close to this?

ATF1224, sorry didn't know where else to post this. Can you tell me how to get the HT1250LS onto 220mhz ham? I have a couple here, but have not been able to figure out the mods to the CPS.

You can email private at kb8zgl at kb8zgl.net

Thanks, I would love to get this radio working!
