I was monitoring the airband tonight and came across the frequency of 128.1000, They were directing planes around a thunderstorm that was coming across my area. I am near Augusta, Ga. I actually went to the ADS-B Exchange website and saw the planes he was directing around the storm. I have searched and searched and cannot find an airport associated with this frequency. Any ideas where it was being broadcast from? Thanks

I agree. Sounds like air route traffic control center. Specifically likely Atlanta Center. I would have to look up the frequency to be sure, but that would be my initial suspect.

I would guess this is what you were hearing. It is not an airport but the ARTCC (Air Route Traffic Control Center)

I mean to explicitly say it used that frequency in my post but left it only only implied. Anyway, icmantim8 covered that.

I don't live near a big airport, although I am near a small airport. I find the ARTCC more interesting because I can track the planes on flightaware. Also you'd be surprised how far you can receive the planes. I'm at the southern tip of New Jersey and sometimes get stuff in the Carolinas. Also don't only program the center that covers your area, program surrounding centers you'd be surprised
