has anybody logged WILM or 1150 AM WDEL or any stations between 1600-1640 that are far away. also, try to log 1380 am WTMC DelDOT. I can get that in Ocean city new jersey, also a station in ocean city, religious station on 1020 only operates during the day. comes in in baltimore.

Living near the water like that you can get AM for quite some distance during the daytime. I remember living in Va Beach if you got away from electrical noises in town you could get the NYC stations pretty reliably.

As for the expanded band stations, those come in very well at night, but will be much better in winter.

And if you really get into the subject of AM band DXing, the International Radio Club of America (IRCA) and the National Radio Club (NRC) have been doing it, between the 2 of them, for almost a century. Both have extensive technical areas where you can learn about propagation modes, antennas, loops and so forth. Both organizations are linked in our Wiki and are world famous.

Oh and don't forget about the loops article in our Wiki.

The best time to get the medium wave DX is during the winter. No thunderstorms causing crashes in the band and, depending on propagation conditions, Europe is certainly possible and some of the Canadians are easy to catch. Remember that Europeans are not using 10 KHz separation and you need to fine tune to pick out the weaker ones.

I used to be able to pick up WILM in southern Delaware on my Drake R8 during the day. But there is an Atlantic City station on the same frequency, and it wipes WILM out. It's been awhile since I tried DelDOT on 1380, I'll have to give that a listen. I have no trouble with WDEL during the day and pick it up year round. Night it doesn't do as well.

Of course, I am not a serious AM DXer, just a casual listener. When visiting New Castle County I like to listen to the news on WILM--wish I could get it at home.
