I moved my little homemade antenna and lost my 800 coverage... out of boredom I grabbed a piece of bell wire approx 10" and soldered it to the bottom of the "existing" center antenna..
(see: http://www.radioreference.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122137 )

Presto, Right? Nope, I had the new piece of bell wire straight up and down perpendicular to the exposed copper circle, so i decided to put a little arch in it, signal S1~S2 well I moved it around so the arch is projected parallel to the shield leading up to the circular ground plane, and roated the antenna so the arch is potinted at a 800 MHz site... BOOM S5~S8 , it is directional, very directional ... tweak the arch a bit and it becomes less directional, aim between my two weakest sites.... S3~S5 on both or aim specifically for stronger, this is 3 S units stonger that any antenna I've used here at home.

Directional antenna with VHF LOW performance unchanged is born, Ill leave it alone since its working lol

I love it how you can make em simple, and then make such a small change and have success..

Anyone else had any success with arch shaped homebrew?
