151.010 MDC Hostage Situation

Hostage situation beginning at 6:45AM MDT Albuquerque, Bernalillo County this morning, 09/04/08:

Prisoner/s is/are apparently holding at least one female employee hostage in the medical unit at the facility.

Continuing to hear employee and hostage taker on the radio (151.010) advising SWAT and other correctional staff to remain clear of the area if they "don't want to see her dead"...

8:55AM CDT... Situation continues.

10:35AM MDT, Fairly quiet the past 1.5 hours. Inmate is calling on 2-way radio for Capt. Mae***s to call him. Inmate continues to warn C.O.s outside the infirmary to "stay away from the door".

10:40: There has been an apparent attempt by SWAT to enter the firmary. The inmate is warning all to "get out, get out". Then he warns "see this, do you see this"?

Around 11:30AM yesterday I heard the inmate tell the Sheriff over the radio "you promised" over and over, then channel 1 of the radio system was dead for hours before it resumed routine operation in the evening.

I'm not sure if this was an exercise or an actual event. It sounded very real, but there was nothing in any of the local news sources about it last night or this morning.

I was thinking maybe skip...I heard nothing on the TRS and have heard some skip on other high band frequencies.

151.01 is licensed to Torrance county with a repeater on Capilla Pk east of Belen. Maybe???

I made a big boo-boo on the frequency I reported here. Incident actually occured on 155.010 Albuquerque MDC channel 1. ((Not 151.010))

I'm certain it was a real event because of the graphic threats and the vulgar language used by the inmates involved.
