Been hearing what sounds like Sheriff or Police activity on 152.630 MHz. Signal not strong enough with indoor antenna to get an ID from.
Checked FCC list, 152.630 not listed. Could this be bleedover from the Fresno County Sheriff radio ?? Caught word 'Columbia' a time or two but unknown if refers to a street, or the town of the same name.

Any ideas on where this station is? :?:

No licensees located on 152.63 MHz through FCC Web sites for the entire state of California. Unable to determine the user.

My not finding it in the FCC list as mentioned in original post has been verified anyway.
Heard a reference to what sounded like either "Shale Hill Road" or "Shell Hill Road" if that will help any.

There's a street named Shakehill Road in Markleeville, Alpine County, Calif. So sleepy I missed the part that you checked for licensees.

152.630 used to belong to a group of frequencies for the old mobile telephone service long before cell phones came on the scene. This was the YJ channel. Maybe some unauthorized user has programmed this in his two way like I have heard before on the unused National Weather channels. Sounded like construction workers. Norm.

I realize you guys are discussing a place far from where I am, and in a different country, but our radio allocations are more alike than not.

The old VHF phone channels are good spectrum which should go to waste. In Ontario, the phone company is using some channels for its operations. Some channels seem to be allocated to private hunting/fishing/camping operations (further north), possibly in areas which are not well served by cellular. In West Quebec, there is an ambulance operation. These are legit users who show up in the Industry Canada (TAFL) database.

I see that the FCC ULS database shows nothing for CA on that frequency. Try other frequencies in the range 152.510--152.840. There are some listings. The suggestion to check up and down 5kHz isn't going to find much; if anything, check at 15kHz steps.

Unknown traffic on 152.63

I have your answer. I have observed a couple of recent additions of Public Safety traffic to the old RT channels recently (businesses have been moving to them slowly for years). Here they are:

152.630 R PL 127.3 (157.890 input) - Tuolumne County Sheriff dispatch - this simulcasts the existing 45.42 R PL 192.8 (46.02 in) low band channel as of early Nov, at least (never heard anything on 157.890 input). Unknown if they plan on cutting over to this and abandoning the low band freq in the future or not. (FYI, Columbia is in Tuolumne county.)

152.120 R PL 82.5 (158.580 input) - Tracy City Police Dept dispatch - this has apparently replaced the previous freq of 155.370 (also 82.5 PL) because, as of early Nov, I never heard anything on the latter. Also heard active traffic on the 158.580 input.

These above are not FCC listed, as far as I know (too new??). Just a couple of examples of businesses using this band also:

152.315 R DPL 565 (157.575 input) - Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk security. They have been using this for at least 3 years.

152.345 R unk PL (157.605 input) - Sun Valley, Idaho, main ski patrol channel. This was in 1999 - other 152.xxx freqs also used (lodge, maint, etc.)
