At 2200 Calgary time, hearing activity on the above frequency. Sounds like some Montana fire fighters trying to get to a fire in the Cypress Hills area. About six miles north of Canada/US border. Haven't had any activing on this frequency for a while. Was listed to Alberta Sustainable, but the people using this are from Montana. For those in southeast Alberta might give some listening.

There are local US fire departments that have agreements in place to be the primary or secondary responders for fire north of the US/Canada border. This is likely what the case was there, I am just guessing though.

Wildhorse

They were using call signs of Wildhorse 12 and 17. Talking with Sheriff and County dispatch which I could not hear. Were mentioning the fire was in the same area as a few years ago. Were requesting Cypress Hills to be notified if they were not already. I beleive they did see Cypress Hills fire on the north side. Didn't here anything on the listed Cypress Hills frequencies however. I believe Wildhorse is just on the boarder. Did hear someone mention that the fire fighting equipement coming from the south had to tell the "lady" where they were going. I take it this was at a boarder control point.

Fire crews did respond from the USA. The fire crews were using the Cypress county emergency frequency as well as county of 40 mile frequency.

Thanks for the replies. Yea, Wildhorse is a town over near Glaicer Park and having driven wildland fire crews in the past they were probably talking to sheriff/county/forestry dispatch as 'crossing the line' is pretty regular in that part of MT when the big fires start. I will look up that posted freq. as it sounds familiar as a possible MT State Fire Channel. Thanks to all so far for all the posts. If anyone has some actual CAN freqs. for my area, please don't hesitate to drop them.
