It sounds like some one talking on 154.815 on apco-25 modulation trying to find out what it is i have no clue.
I live in Hopewell nj and i know it is hunterdon county police south dispatch. I have a radio with it programed in with a pl and my scanner is scanning it with out the pl and only my scanner is picking it up. But It is a strong signal. Does anybody have any clue what it is. It also might be some type of encryption.
Thanks,
Joe

The database here shows Atlantic Highlands (Monmouth County) police as using digital on that frequency. Can you guess whether you're hearing a repeater or just the base side of a simplex setup?

I know that's a ways off from you but maybe today's conditions are bringing the signal in strong. The database doesn't seem to offer any other good clues for digital on 154.815 n NJ or proximal PA.

Most likely, it is Atlantic Highlands. They run an old VSELP system and its on a nice high elevation.

Thanks for the info i have been scanning them for a few years now and about a week ago is the first time i heard it it on that freq. The transmition almost sounds like static and then you here like two beeps at the end of the transmition. It has been a very stron signal for the whole week so i am not sure.
Thanks,
Joe

what you describe sounds like DES.

VSELP? Motorola no longer supports that. If it truly is that, then it is just like encryption because unless you have an old VSELP radio you will hear nothing but noise. Current scanners only decode APCO 25 modulation.
I don't see how someone can say it's DES.

Yes its truly VSELP. I've worked on the system. They've had it since the early 90's.
