Frequency 155.55 is a busy place. Last night I was copying police activity on that freq with a PL tone of 118.8. I know we've got UnivMD-Catonsville on that freq with PL 114.8 which blasts me out when they transmit. In Somerset County there's the sheriff using PL 179.9 and Princess Anne PD using DPL 165. Are there any other police departments in the county this 118.8 might belong to? I can often hear the sheriff but I've never heard Princess Anne from up this way. Somewhere along the line, I seem to remember someone saying that towns other than Princess Anne use that freq in the county.

i thought i remembered seeing hte state's attorney office using that frequency down that way a long time ago. ill run it thru the ULS and see what comes up.

[edit]: heres the one i was thinking of...
License info:
WPBE772
SOMERSET, COUNTY OF
30512 PRINCE WILLIAM ST
PRINCESS ANNE, MD 21853
ATTN STATE ATTORNEYS OFFICE
90.20 - STATES ATTORNEY WILL USE RADIOS TO COORDINATE ACTIVITIES OF POLICE DEPT

Frequncies:
155.475
155.550
159.030 (looks like this is the input to 155.550)

the only other user in the ULS for maryland is UMBC PD. I know that York County's drug task force uses 155.550 but with a PL of 136.5.

Thanks skipshark...much appreciated. This was definitely a police department dispatch type operation on the freq. Maybe I just imagined someone had posted about another department on that freq in the Somerset County area. I'll have to keep listening to get a firm identity. It's difficult if they either don't speak a callsign or give it using Morse. Sometimes you have to listen for a long time to get it pinned down. I came up with another new freq in Delaware last night also but that one gave me an identifier to go along with the EMS traffic on it. It makes it so much easier. I also managed to put some PL tones with some New Jersey freqs that I hear which helps to keep out unwanted traffic while listening to them. I also have another half dozen or so - along with this 155.55 freq - that I'm trying to ID. I enjoy finding new VHF/UHF freqs more than any other aspect of this hobby. Thanks again for the help.

my location up here in northern baltimore county is horrible, but ill put it in also and see if i cant hear anything. I agree that finding new frequencies is probably one of the best aspects of the hobby. Its almost like an easter egg hunt. and of course theres the ULS, i wouldive gone crazy long ago without it.
