155.565 - State Police Question

I am just wondering one thing with this frequency. This frequency is http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&action=isf&stcd=NY&freq=155.565

is from the following agencies. However, in the Province of Quebec a small town called Shawville has there FD Repeater on 150.860. Which I can hear. However, 155.565 is the input frequency.

The other night when the conditions were right, State Police were coming in on the repeater, in which case mentioned a town called Fraser or Fraserville I think. Now I don't know where this is located so i'm looking for some help with the frequency.

Also, I'm wondering now, if I put 150.86 in the radio with a PL Tone of whatever is listed above. Should I be able to hear just the State PD using the PL Tone? I'd put a PL Tonein for the local FD's repeater but I don't think they use one. I've never heard there FD complain though about the interference on there repeater.

There's a Fraser, NY in Delaware County which is near Binghamton, listed as one of the uses of the frequency. Assuming its Binghamton coming through the local repeater (Plattsburgh is much, much closer) one of two things are happening:
a) the normal input frqeuency also has a 110.9 PL tone to access its repeater, or
b) Shawville rebroadcasts anything from 155.565; meaning the input is used in carrier squelch mode.

In either case, if its coming through the repeater, programming in the PL on your end will not quiet just those transmissions. If its a above, there isn't too much they can do; if its b they could utilize a different PL for the repeater although all field radios would have to reprogrammed first.

On a final note, its a long ways from Binghamton to anywhere in Canada; at least a few hundred miles away; lots of skip when that was being picked up!

Actually around here, the skip hasn't been coming in here on VHF like it was back a few months ago.

Just scanning now, and the signal is coming in pretty decent on the repeater here. If there repeater output is putting out a good signal then I should hear them here for a while.

Either which way I'm sure that's the area I heard then assuming that's the only Town named Fraser in those parts.

Interesting to be able to hear State Troopers on a local repeater here considering I'm about 2 hrs or so from the border. I don't mind hearing them come in when they have a good signal but when it fades it's annoying. The Fire dept. there must use a PL Tone or something on there radio's. Like I said, I've never heard them complain about the skip coming in for them. But then again, there repeater over there is a bit different then the local FD repeater's over here in Ontario.

I couldn't find a good map online that could give me the distance between the two towns. If you're able to find it that'd be great.
