During a recent trip through the state I logged what sounded like railway comms, on 155.5800mhz with a CTCSS of 146.2. Is this a commuter rail dispatch freq???

There are no commuter trains in KY that I am aware of. 155.58 is usually assigned to police service. What part of KY did you hear this?

155.58 with a pl of 146.2 is used by the Louisville Metro Police as suburban F-3. That's an information channel as well as special detail channel.

So if you were within 50 miles or so of Louisville, that's probably what you heard.

Based on other loggings it was certainly within 50 miles of Louisville. They were definately discussing trains and when tracks would be occupied...unfortunately didn't get long to monitor them as I was on interstate driving from Nashville to Toronto...
