159.0375 151.4 ?

Been picking up chatter on 159.0375 151.4 in East Islip NY (Suffolk County)(Long Island). Sounds similar to LIRR (Long Island Rail Road) traffic like when engineer calls in and is told " no orders, no messages".

Searched db for NY, NJ, MA, CT and PA. Coming up empty.

Upon reviewing more recordings, just heard train calling into Babylon tower on this freq. Pulled up the only FRN I could find for Long Island Railroad and do not see the freq listed.

Anyone here on Long Island hear anything or have knowledge? Sorry, but seems to be a thing now.

Dave, see if you find them at the same time on normal RailRoad channels, could be an image issue with the scanner

I see it licensed quite a bit as FX1 (control station i.e. a repeater input) in Suffolk County. Does it sound like an input or an output to you?

Only a tourist for NY, but where do you see those licenses, the FCC returns NADDA for 159.0375 for Suffolk County NY outside of the Experimental License for ORBCOMM License Corp.

Looking at notes from last year, Lirr channel 4 161.535 logged the same pl of 151.4. Its also listed on Fordyce with that pl. I never submitted it because it was not used on all comms.

On 159.035, can hear trains calling in with rssi in low -90's and hear replies with rssi over -100 to -112 and those are using pl 151.4. Not getting that great of a signal so may have to take a ride over the weekend or come up with better antenna situation.

Today I hear Babylon yard replying but don't hear all trains calling in. In general it sounds like I am picking up from 2 different locations based on rssi readings and voice clarity. Also added in ch 4 161.535 and have no activity on that today, just 159.0375



Only reason I even found this relates to the NYSEnCON Police thread. Took all freqs on frn and filtered out all known freqs. Stuck unknowns in a bank and here we are now.

I included 159.030 in my search for licenses, since there are quite a few licenses in Suffolk County for that frequency, and being only 7.5 kHz away from the reported 159.0375, they could very easily be mistaken for each other if you weren't 100% certain of which center frequency is the correct center frequency. I've seen it many times before where someone thinks they're listening to a particular frequency, when the actual frequency is something only 6.25 or 7.5 kHz +/-

OP may well be hearing 159.0375, or he may be hearing 159.030. In the latest post he mentions 159.035, so until we are 100% certain which frequency is the true center frequency here, we shouldn't discount the possibilities.

Sorry about the typo. 159.0375 is what I hear LIRR traffic on. Not 159.030.
