What is 160.830 CTCSS 123.0 being used for now that NJ Transit PD has moved off of it? When I was driving through Hudson County this morning, I heard a repeater key up (a very strong signal too), but could not make out the audio because if was very low.

Yes, I was wondering the same thing. I heard brief audio on this frequency this afternoon saying something like "please open the gate". However, there has been numerous open keyups on this frequency for a while now. I believe NJT PD still have this channel in all their radios for backup/misc. use.

160.83000 pl 123.0 is one of amtrak PD rptr output in most of the East Coast major cities.

Was still in use last year in Philadelphia and New York, as of this year.

I believe you mean 161.295 MHz. That is the main Amtrak police dispatch output frequency.

In the State of New Jersey, 160.830/123.0 is NJTPD. NJTransit Police are maintaining it as a fallback.

Simple version: There's an on-going technical glitch involving the simulcast set-up from the NJICS (they aren't even simulcasting anymore), which causes the repeater to key. They have no interest in fixing it. Known issue to them and C&S Department.

It sounds like the North Jersey Coast Line is patched into 160.830 train ops have been heard. I believe MY Transit PD moved into a newly renovated Comm Center last week and perhaps someone set up a patch that has been forgotten.

Yes, I just heard the Coastline train conductors briefly on this frequency too. I am also hearing a lot of beeping sounds on this frequency today. NJT radio techs are definitely working on something relating to this frequency.

I flipped it on today, and y'all called it. It definitely sounds like Newark Division Road barely audible. That's a new one. Tipped off a buddy who is a C&S foreman for NJTransit. When he was done laughing, he said he'd ask around and let me know, but thinks it's probably bleed-over related to comms issues they already know about.
