Paul,

I glad to hear something about USM P25. Here in S FL, I have not heard the old analog USM channels in a while, but on 170.750 (which used to be one of their simplex channels) I hear a P25 RPTR that sounds like a main operations channel (I need to get the NAC). So things have changed. I now live outside the major metro area, so I do not hear much unless I do a road trip.

Was what you heard mobile, base, or repeater? Too bad you could not get the NAC.

If anyone else has some info on USM changes, I would like to know. It looks like a total reorg down here.

That frequency was used nationwide for US Marshalls. I have heard it in the past as well. I have it stored in one of my banks. When I heard it in the past they were all mobile units picking up a subject I will let you know if I have any activity in South Alabama.

Anyone watch "Manhunters" on A&E? These guys are US Marshalls Based out of NY/NJ. I've seen them use everything from Cellphones, NYPD Radios and Newark Radios.

170.7500 MIGHT be a Court House detail. We get that Routinely in Boston from the Federal Court.
Seems to be mostly simplex here

thanks Bama & sofa I will also put the 170.750 1 in :). I also had 162.8125 or 162.7125 as input This ws many years ago tho. I guess then the 163.200 was the repeater output at that time?

I've been hearing P25 encrypted traffic on this freq for about a year in the Martinsburg, WV area. Without knowing exactly who/what it is, it might be coming from the Martinsburg, WV or the Northern VA area.

This frequency is the repeater channel for the CSOs at the Federal Courthouse in downtown Miami. When I last monitored them a while back, they had gone to what appeared to be fulltime encryption. Also, the repeater (actually the antenna) seems to be mounted on a high platform since their coverage appears to be pretty wide.

Also, all of the USM freqs. for the South FL area are now P25 (mostly encrypted).

Bonus! Thanks, JoeH!

The freqs I used to hear them on were:

162.7875 Main Rptr. PL 127.3
162.7125 Courthouse Rptr? PL 127.3
163.2000 Simplex and rare Rptr. PL 127.3 & 136.5
170.7500 Mobile Simplex ... now Miami Courthouse. PL 127.3 & 136.5

Am I missing something? Also, do you have any NACs for the P25 stuff?

Thanks! And thanks Bill.

In Northern California 163.2000 is no longer used all over like it used to be. It's now delegated to the Sacramento area. Everywhere else they (or rather the FBI radio services since they have the maintenance contract) have been installing repeaters on different output freqs. Always NAC 293. I can count three different repeaters in just the SF Bay area with a common input.

The Montgomery Area is a hot spot for federal agencies. Just look in the local phone boook for proof. One key advice on searching for Federal Frequencies search between 8am and 5pm. Because 90% of them will occur during that time. There are also some repeaters in your area so you should be able to hear some of them with no problems.

AlabamaRS said in his post. " I was hearing it on a Pro96 Hand held with Stock antenna."

This is proof that this was a repeater he was hearing or he was close . If you are real close take off the rubber duck. If you still hear someting with out the rubber duck on you should be able to see them.

When I lived in Mtgmy the was an FBI repeater that went on all of the time. It should be the easy catch.

Also many Federal Agencies use the same frequencies Nationwide. So an old fashion google search always works as well.

Phil,

I think 163.200 is still designated a simplex car-to-car frequency but now in P25 mode. Unfortunately, I don't have NAC codes.

"we" determined it to base output . I was told to scan 162-174Mhz between 8am-5pm because most feds are 8-5 now heh.. I did that today & so far nothing new heard

That is what it was in Ft. Laud years ago as well, but analog. PL 136.5 used in Palm Beach and above. Repeater in Orlando with 146.2 PL. Most areas used 163.2000 as a repeater.

Roger that on the NACs. I was down there today and bagged some good info, but heard no USM traffic. The courthouse freq was too weak where I was to get the NAC. I tried for a long time, but could not get it. Nabbed more B of I P25 freqs today. Got the USSS NAC, and Postal Inspectors NAC (encrypted). Not too bad of a day. ;)

Where is it a base output? This may apply in some areas, but definitely not in South Florida.
