Hi all

Getting lots of hits on 166.2500 mhz here in Libby,Mt. Must be coming out of Boundary County, Id. PL of 167.9, might be other ones too.
Some voice in the clear sometimes but mostly P25 I believe. Do not have a digital radio, need to get one. heh heh. I think it's an dhs cbp/ice repeater. Pretty sure it's the output frequency. Monitoring it now.

I wondering if the signal is coming out of idaho; Black Mountain, as I checked the signal level bars and it's around 4 bars. Might be coming off of King Mountain repeater maybe or maybe Pinkham. It's got me wondering now. When it's on P25 it's CSQ.

I have in my notes for Colorado WAPA, but no NAC

This Freq is a mish-mosh of users across the country.
CBP, NMF, NPS, USFS, VA, WAPA as well as
a TV Station and within a Radius of NYC some FD/PD and EMS

If you can get the NAC that will help
P25 sends NAC codes, never a PL

Sounds like it might be a dual-mode (Analog and P25) Repeater.

166.2500 mhz ?

Can anyone with an digital scanner try to get the nac from 166.2500 Mhz in northwest Montana. I'm getting it in the libby area. I just have an analog scanner; BCT15. I do hear voice sometimes but mostly I think it's P25. The signal might be coming from King Mountain or maybe Pinkham Mountain. I don't think it's from Black Mountain in Boundary county, Id.

Just heard "Last name in the evidence box", then Dispatch, 10, 10-38. getting more male voice comms now sometimes. Could it be dhs cpb agent in the field ? Not hearing dispatch though. Could be an input freq. maybe or dispatch is P25.

Why no thought of a Canadian station ?
You're not far from the Int'l border.

I thought Parks Canada at first, but it does not come up for any in Alberta. And Parks Canada reuses frequencies. It is NOT RCMP in Alberta or BC.

BC uses 138/139 pairs in SE BC and are converting from conventional analogue to conventional P25 with full time AES-256 encryption.

Alberta RCMP uses 154/155/156/159MHZ analogue with some 139/148MHz for back haul. I would recommend searching Spectrum Direct on Indusrty Canada, and see what pops up for that frequency in BC and Alberta.

Edit: just did the search... Nothing that pops in western Canada... Just radio Canada, and CBC... Bless it's protected, which is possible, it's not Canadian.

Search and see what else you get at the same time.

Is your "SO" dual mode

Is your "SO" dual mode ??
You also mentioned a CTCSS of 167.9

Yeah, it's dual mode. And I did hear him say sherrif's dispatch. Unless it's an federal agent talking to the sheriff's office but doubt it. Will have to listen more. Can find out real easy though. Get my portable out.

Yeah it's the sheriff's officer's talking to dispatch. Just heard 56-10 talking to dispatch. Switched over to the sheriff's channel 155.5950 and heard both of them. Got that figured out. ha ha

So which SO Freq ? and on which make/model scanner ?

Good info to know, so you can do the math on other potential images
