Hi all

Picking this up right now from the fires by Libby Dam. Forest fire fighters using this freq along with other ones. USFS air to air is 128.1000 Mhz AM. Possible severe thunderstorms friday so might get interesting..
Kalispell news said possible 60 + MPH winds with 1 inch hail. That will make a mess.

166.9125 in your region is generally an Air/Ground channel (A/G 09)

The air to ground frequency list includes many frequencies that are used for National Forest, National Park and BLM district dispatch nets, tacticals and such. For example air to ground 19, 168.1250 MHz is the same frequency as the Inyo National Forest north forest net. It is also used for one of the Six Rivers National Forest nets. Air to ground 7, 166.8500 is used for one of the nets at Yosemite National Park. Obviously these air to grounds are only used where they won't interfere with other uses and distance and/or topography is used to avoid interference.

Looking for a frequency on the national air to ground list won't necessarily determine how it is being used. Cal Fire does the same thing to have 29 tactical frequencies, but uses tones and distance/topography to avoid problems. Cal Fire has 22 local geographical units in the state many of which have more than one net yet they "recycle" frequencies carefully to produce the 29 tacs as well as 9 of their 11 command nets (the first two were already being used statewide). NIFC did the same thing, but over a much wider area of course.
