Hi All

Picking up 167.1125 Mhz from somewhere in lincoln or maybe flathead counties. Only getting one side of the conversation. Might be a split frequency pair. the PL is 146.2 Sounds like it might be forest service using it but not sure. I know the frequency is assigned to VHF Law Enforement. From Libby. Will keep monitoring it.

LE4 would be 168.1125R/163.2875 and would be P25 Only

167.1125 is a DOI, probably USFS, maybe an out-of-town crew?

Ok, I just heard one of the guys on 167.1125 Mhz 146.2 Hz mention Tac 2 so the channel could be USFS KNF TAC 2 or maybe flathead FS. Still listening. I kind of don't think it's out of flathead though if they are using HT's.

The Disp [ A Guess] could have a Remote Base to talk Simplex back to the mobile/handhelds.

IT is also in my notes as Region 1's TAC 1 [Bitterroot NF and Beaverhead-Deerlodge], but with No PL

Hi ecps92

I just seen that about Bitterroot NF & Beaverhear-Deaarlodge NF on that freq listed as R1 TAC so that could be Kootenai NF too. But it might be R1 TAC 2.

yup
cjrjr507 are you hearing a dispatcher, or just field units? If 167.1125 is a USFS "tac" channel, you would not expect any base stations on the freq. If 167.1125 is a "Region 1 Tac" channel, then it should be available for all of the Forests in USFS Region 1 to use. (Note - USFS is a USDA agency, not a DOI agency).

Hi zerg901

it's not dispatch I'm hearing, it's a field crews on that frequency.

OK - that makes sense.

"Kootenai Tac 2" might be "NIFC Tac 2" which is 168.20. Seems that many of the Forests use NIFC Tac 1, 2, and 3 extensively.

That is not as true as it used to be. Regional or individual unit work or project nets have been established to keep non fire traffic off the NIFC frequencies. Additionally the four new federal government shared or common frequencies are being used for non-fire traffic. Locally I haven't heard non-fire traffic on NIFC frequencies for 4-5 years.

I heard via a USFS source that the Kootenai NF channel plan does not list a tac frequency of its own.
