I picked up 170.250 mhz, I started looking it up when I heard Lake St. Louis Police come though on my other scanner. For some reason I am picking them up on 170.250 MHZ . Is it just a mirror image or is anyone else picking this up?

Curious, did it have the usual repeater hum that they are famous for, I have not heard many departments with as much hum at the end of a transmission as them.

I'll have to check this out. I do know they had the radio tech there not too long ago.

What is with their audio anyway. I can barely if at all hear their dispatcher. I have to turn the scanner way up to hear.
That's one of the things I like about my BCD996XT, it allows me to either boost or decrease volume by channel, I did that with LSL PD for my streamed feed.

I too can do that with the PSR500 or the Pro-106, but then you have it loud and when the officer talk you have to turn it down. (if in public) because everyone hears it.

I will try that again I suppose, but like right now. I can hear both dispatch and the officers fine, later the dispatcher will sound like shes whispering again.

When I'm out there, I'm less 5000 feet from their tower. I've always found their audio understandable. When I'm in stl city I can still pick them up as I'm about 200 feet off the ground. There, I find the dispatcher can sometimes be hard to hear but the units are still understandable.

Lake St. Louis's tower is 5.5-6 miles from me. They come in 3-5 bars. I can hear them crystal clear today. But if I am in the car their signal is horrible. I can pick up Wentzville about as equal and their tower is further away.

I am surprised you can pick them up in St. Louis, I will have to test where I can hear them and where I can't.

I do not know how Cottleville can get a signal from the Lake St. Louis Tower, because when ever I am in the Cottleville area you can barely receive their signal.

I only have 159.15 on my pro-51 so I listen to them quite a bit. With Cottleville, as soon as the unit doesn't reply to a status check they call their cell phone. Lately, it seems like the dispatcher doesn't even try to ask a second time.

I've picked up as far as Warren County from the city. It's a nice place to be, yet at the same time it's bad. I don't know who to listen to. I have the options of St. Charles co, lsl/cottlevile, Wentzville, O'fallon is sketchy, STL County, STL City(includes FBI) & airport, the ISP and the municipalities on their system, the rest of the Metro East and a bunch of factories come alive at night.
