Group,

I'm in Lafayette and am hearing some public safety/emergency calls on 170.3. I think it is north of me, no Cajun accents. The PL is 82.5 if I remember right.

Anyone??

You're probably picking up an image of a channel in the 159 MHz range.

170.3-10.7= 159.6

170.3-11.155=159.145

170.3-21.4=148.9
Does any of the subtraction results look close to any local channels?

I suppose that is possible, but I've heard it on both a 780xlt and Icom R7000 at home, and BR330T while driving near Alexandria.

I'd like to get someone in Cenla to try 170.3.

Thanks
Tom

FWIW 170.3 MHz is not even allocated for voice. It's a narrowband data channel for federal/non-federal hydrological data. There are a number of these narrow band channels in this area of the band.

There's also a wireless microphone allocation at 170.3050 MHz. I wonder if someone is using that for some sort of low-power monitor or repeater. I've seen that before...
