172.1000 Trunked System

I am just checking to see if anyone has information regarding a trunked system on 172.1000? This is the control tower channel and is rather weak at my location south of Greeley.

Are you able to get a SysID??

I can tell you, in my travels [varies by scanner] that in the 172-174 band I have caught images from a 900 Mhz TRS.

In the Ft Collins area - that frequency range covers data (telemetry) from low power transmitters - with water and temp readings. Usually near low lying flood zones and bridges.

172.0875 Contol Channel Now

The control channel has moved to 172.0875 this evening! The control channel sounds different (more like a MotoTurbo system than a standard P25) however the PSR-500 is displaying a P25 system ID of AD5 or NAD5.

Sound familiar?

That appears to be the default SYSID and WACN.

Not IWN, but NOAA. (IWN is System ID 715 everywhere it's on the air so far)

A while back I found this Request For Information on combiners and multi-couplers for a VHF trunked system to be built in the Boulder area:

This was posted back in 2008, but I guess the system finally made it on the air. The same frequencies you are hearing are listed on this page.

Looks like NTIA, and I think they're on the NOAA campus on Broadway in Boulder. Anyone over that way hearing anything on 172.0875, 172.1, 170.6, 169.05, 168.6875 or 166.8125?

No signals on any of those at the daytime job in Boulder.

Same situation up here in Greeley I get nothing. If the site(s) are in the Metro area they are not on any mountain area towers.

I have it weak on 172.0875 from Loveland. No decode on UT.

I also have a CC on 139.0625 that had one group active yesterday. I'll post the ID later when I pull it out of the UT file. It's a big signal on an attic mounted VHF GP antenna.

Can you run pro96com on the control channel if you have the capability, Dave?

Not enough signal to get a clean decode on trunker on the 172 channel. Only 1 bar of 5 on the 785 (discrim is on a 2005)
