About a week ago, I heard some traffic on this freq while searching, but the traffic wasn't speciffic wasn't specific enough to determine who it was. Mostly, convoy kinds of things. They were traveling up Interstate 205 in a lose group and were clearly coming back from somewhere. They ended up calling ahead for someone to "open the gate" and that was the last of the talk.

BPA is in this general area, but this would be a third freq. It was simplex, analog and no tone showed but that could have been because my 396 was set to display NACs because I was searching on the local IWN system.

No callsigns (just names) and no identifiers at all. I thought perhaps fire crews returning from another state helping on range fires, but I find nothing in any BIFC, Dissaster, or other such DBs. Likewise nothing at Gifford Pinchot NF, which was nearby where I was located. The only other in the area I could think of (actually a lot closer) was the Mt. St. Helens USGS crew, whose HQ was blocks away.

Anyone have any ideas?

In addition to Bonneville Power, 172.5750 is reported as a Fire Crew TAC in several different forests per Google search. Can't say I have ever heard this one. Best, Mike

That would make the most sense, but couldn't find it anywhere listed in USFS, BIFC, BLM, etc. But clearly was crews returning from somewhere in a convoy.
