IF you can get the NAC or NACs, that will help narrow it down

Since TSA used prior FAA VHF [the 173.3750 is not one of those] but is now moving to UHF - likely Not.
and 173.3750 is not even a NTIA assignment, that is FCC.

173.3750 used to be one of the old Press Relay channels of days ole (IY)

173.375 is FCC Part 90, not federal, and I see several analog and one DMR license in the LI/CT area but no P25. Is this really P25??

From north shore in Brookhaven Township I'm hearing school buses. Strong signal from base station calling itself "Northport." It's an analog simplex operation. Sometimes I hear the bus(s), sometimes I don't.

If what you are hearing is Huntington Coach, then 173.375 is the repeater input. Check the 160.170 repeater output. Huntington does have a dispatch facility in E Northport.

Frequencies in that range were also used for filming motion pictures. I monitored several MGM films being shot in my area. They were also used for newspaper distribution.
