I found a P25 Phase 2 control channel on 173.7875 with no voice activity yet. Using Pro96Com and UniTrunker, I see the following values for the system:

System ID: 4D5
RFSS: 003
Site ID: 067
WACN: BEE00

Anyone have any idea who may be using this? I'm hearing this from the San Leandro hills.

I'm receiving it as well in Fremont. Signal is strong...possibly from the South Bay. I can rule out Sunol or Diablo as I am in the shadow of their sites. I'm reading the same control channel info that you are and I'll check it often for changes.

I am picking it up very strong in Kentfield, so my guess would be Mt. Tam. I don't pick up anything strong from outside Marin here.

I would probably not worry too much about this system if its going to be a federal system. There won't be any digital clear talkgroups. The feds will tighten up their belts on this system for sure.

To each their own.

It's not always about monitoring radio traffic for some people. It's about gathering information ABOUT the system that's important.

That was quick work! Thanks to all involved. I have it programmed into my 996P2 and will let you know what I hear from my post in Fremont.
Let us know about unit/radio IDs you catch, that might help identify the user.

The Round Mountain site 078 is running into a problem with fire aircraft on the Klamath National Forest. Seems when aircraft are at altitude, they get a helmet full of P25 control channel while on Klamath NF Black Net. Oops! Klamath doesn't run tone protection on their output.

Site 68 seems to be coming from somewhere south and/or east of Mt. Tam. I discovered Site 69 this morning, which seems to be Mt. Diablo, on 172.7625 (announcing an alternate CC of 172.7125). I also picked up another CC on 171.6625 which was coming from somewhere north of Mt. Tam, probably somewhere in Sonoma or Napa counties. I was unable to get a site number for this one as I did not have my laptop with me.

Picked up Site 68 today for the first time. From my post here in Fremont I'm guessing it is in the south Bay, maybe Loma. About the same signal strength as Tam and I'm shielded to the east, so probably south of me.
