ACY = Atlantic City
FAA = Odd, as this freq is also a BATFE Tac channel, as well as BP in AZ, FBI in MI, but no FAA that I've encountered

I've run across many pieces of equipment that have been repurposed where they do not remove the old CW or other form of ID. Case in point my county TRS still IDs with a call sign (WPIX11) from a Department Store that expired over ten years ago.

FWIW, WPIX 11 is a New York TV station. The mystery deepens! 🤔

Can you post a recording for us to confirm? I record and then replay at 0.5x with Win Media Player or whatever to help read the really fast or noisy ones.

Have you heard it with multiple types of radio (to eliminate it being an image)?

First question,No I did not record it but copied better
this afternoon it,s "FAAXACY"

Second question , no only on my R8600 there are alot of
RR members around the NY/NJ area that could have a go
at it.

273.8875 MHz is assigned to the FAA tech center in Atlantic City/ Egg Harbor Twp, NJ. Why they would add the "/maint" I do know though.

Here is some data from 2014 (I reduced the data size to only show Atlantic City related information)

Original link is here.... http/www.scannerdigest.com/files/phlcomm-misc-military-2014.pdf but comes up with a warning on download.

Was easier to download and modify then dig around my office for the original book.

OT - we know SD went silent, years ago - but the pages live - anyone know why they stopped publishing so suddenly ?

Sorry fat fingers it is 173.8875 MHz. Again skinny fingers. I don't know why they added it. Maybe an attempt to better ID the frequency. I do know that that is not a frequency assignment for maintenance.
