1994 Accord install

Just picked up a 94 Honda Accord and it had no stereo and although I have one that will work I decided to play a bit and stick my two mobile scanners in it and they both fit rather nicely together. This is basically a test setup as I am using it to compare the two scanners on a couple systems here. Both scanners are hooked to the same antenna using a Stridesburg 4 port Multicoupler. The unused ports are terminated with 50 Ohm terminators. With the setup here the Stridesburg is located behind the two scanners and all wiring is (or will be) out of site. All thats left is to mount the 2 meter rig and it's antenna. Not sure yet where it's going, either up on the dash or down on the console along side the two scanners on the passengers side.
I was surprised at the room though, and I think ultimately I may get a remote head for the 996 and also set up the 2 meter as a remote as there is plenty of space for them and to put the stereo in.

Nice. I'm also surprised you had enough room for both faceplates in the dash of a 1994 Accord.

Did you use DIN sleeves, or was this an ISO 7736 mount?

If you used an ISO 7736 mount, do you have or can you snap some pictures of the screw taps the GRE scanner includes? (As in, what the scanner looks like under its exterior sleeve.)

Are you using the built-in speakers that normally the head unit stereo would use? If so, how are you amplifying for them? (I didn't think the scanners output enough power to drive car speakers.)

Also, did you secure the 3.5mm / 1/8th stereo jack on the back of the scanner for the external monitor/speakers at all? I know the Unidens don't have a screw-lock for it, so I'd be worried about it unplugging behind the dash, due to vibrations of driving the car. (I'd considered silicone weatherproofing sealant, as it's "rubbery" enough to let you peel it off later when you need to, but strong enough to hold the plug in its jack.)

Finally, if you'd declare your photos as a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC-BY-SA) license, then others would be free to share and reuse your photos to learn from.

zuzu, The GRE is in a DIN sleeve while the 996 is just in the normal case. To be honest I think the previous owner of the car cut some things out for a stereo as I don't think these would fit normally. I forget though how it should look in a factory stock setup, however whatever is missing isn't required so I think anyone could cut out the 94 and probably the 95 this way.
The speaker plugs won't come out as they against the Stridesburg multicoupler in the back.
I'm using the small speakers so they don't take a lot of power to run and the scanners get plenty of volume even with the windows open going down the road. I will say the GRE has much louder volume though.

As for photos, they can view them here, they are copyrighted automatically as soon as they are taken and property of the photographer unless otherwise stated, thats with ANY photo on the web, if it doesn't say it's in public domain it isn't. Funny you bring that up as I just had my lawyer force one person to remove my photos from his website due to non-payment of usage fees for some sports stuff.

Right, that's the copyright problem that solves.

p.s. Not to sound pedantic, but photographs can't be "property", it's a copyright -- a monopoly privilege. It derives from the copyright clause, which has nothing to do with common law property rights.

Actually copyright is ownership, and you own the copyright if you took the photo, hence you own the property, the photograph, whether it is a file or print.

And your right Grog, that link doesn't solve an issue with non-payment, however a single email from an attorney to the ISP dealt with the issue nicely

I don't really want to hijack the thread onto this tangent, but most people most of the time don't expect to be able to extort money from others who are sharing additional copies of the media they created. The Creative Commons licenses make that assumption explicitly legally clear (while preserving attribution).

There are many other business models to earn a good living as a photographer, writer, musician, programmer, designer, or any other form of knowledge work without relying on copyright.

As for whether a government-granted monopoly can constitute "ownership" (in the way that real property rights do), I'll defer to the legal council of <a href="http://blog.mises.org/archives/author/Kinsella">Stephan Kinsella</a>. If there's a "politics and religion" forum, we can continue this there instead.
