Start saving your pennies and watch Radio Shack, lately you can get a Pro-106 or 197 (GRE) on sale for in the mid $300.00's which is a steal considering they are usually a $480 and up scanner.

I have had a few radio shack scanners, but i am more partial to the unidens. I guess it is what you are used to. My first scanner was a uniden, still have it even though it doesn't work. sounds crazy to hang on to it but my mom got it for me.
